Tips and Tricks for Cheap Holidays to Sharm el Sheikh
It doesn't matter where in the world you're going to spend a good holiday, your vacation can get quite expensive. Between the airline tickets and the hotel accommodations, your expenses can add up to multiple heights. Add to that expenses on daily meals and local transportation, your expenses can get quite messy.
Budget-Friendly Travel Tips
1. Give yourself at least a year to plan your vacation. This will give you time to research and put-up a “vacation fund.”
2. Setting-up a budget or an estimate will help you assess how much money you may actually have to spend. You can then tailor your trips that it will fit your budget.
3. Months before your vacation, track air fares and hotel room rates, giving you a feel of the prices and the right time to do an actual purchase.
4. Stay away from peak travel dates. These would include Mothers' Day, spring break, Thanks Giving, Christmas, and New Year's. Try to book your vacations days before these travel dates for less expensive plane fares.
5. Plan everything from what you are going to do down to when you will be eating out. Sticking to one planned major activity per day reduces your expenses for entertainment.
6. Before booking your vacation, check your credit card's benefits, maximize your resources. You may just have earned enough points that you can redeem for discounts.
7. Think like locals do and avoid tourist traps. Check online reviews of the places you plan to travel to and come up with a list of local restaurants that are worth trying. Relying on restaurants featured in guidebooks may just prove to be very expensive for you.
8. When in Rome be a Roman. Learn local customs. One good example is a country's etiquette on tipping. There are some countries like the US where leaving a 10% tip is customary. Other countries however do not practice leaving a little extra for good service.
